Srinagar, Jun 24 (KNO): Light rains lashed several parts of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday evening, bringing respite from the week-long scorching heat in the Union Territory here. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), most parts of J&K including the UT’s summer capital, Srinagar light rains this evening, which has brought respite from the ongoing heat wave during which the maximum temperature has surpassed the previous records. After 18 years, the hottest June day was recorded in Srinagar at 35.0 degree Celsius yesterday while in Qazigund and Kokernag the second hottest June day was recorded on June 23. As per the details available, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam it settled at 29.8 degree Celsius. In Kokernag, the mercury settled at 34.0 degree Celsius while Qazigund, Gulmarg and Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degree Celsius, 24.2 degree Celsius and 34.0 degree Celsius respectively. Independent Weather Forecaster, Faizan Arif Keng told KNO that there is a possibility of light rains in most areas of Kashmir during the next few hours while a few areas may be left without showers. He further added that the maximum temperatures are also going to see a declining trend from tomorrow—(KNO)
